Friday Fill-In--August 3rd

1. Well, ok, maybe I suck at this "posting every day" thing!.

2. Hanging off the edge of my bed, upside down to crack my back-- that's a stretch!

3. When I'm making something, creating something, is when I am truly happy. I've learned, finally, that I have to make it a priority for the sake of my short and long-term happiness.

4. Downloading the Couch to 5k program to my ipod already (and starting it!) would make me more than a bit healthier.

5. And frankly, I've been planning on doing that forever, so I need to. Really, really need to.

6. They say that money is the root of all evil. But it is, as Bernadette Peters would say "ve-ery ve-ery" necessary.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to my husband being home, tomorrow my plans include going to Doug and Tonya's wedding anniversary and Sunday, I want to have a wonderful time at my niece Sophia's 8th birthday party!

"Summer Creatures" via Pinterest

Made these for the kidlets. I was inspired by a cute pic on Pinterest, but it linked to an etsy shop instead of a tutorial so I had to wing it.

I used an old pair of Walky's jeans and a pair of his cords that he ripped up the leg. Using the inspiration pic as a guide, I made a few bunny-shaped patterns and whipped them out on the sewing machine (leaving the base of each to be stuffed and then hand-stitched closed). I attached the safety eyes before stuffing, then broke out the felt, embroidery floss, scissors and some old gloves, letting each kid pick out their preferred colors and style ("Should your guy have a piece for his tummy? Which of the eyes in this picture do you like best? Where would you like me to use this color?") Then I did a lot of cutting and experimenting and hand-stitching over the course of the week while watching tv and movies after the kids were in bed.

The originals on the etsy shop were called "Winter Creatures", so I'm calling these "Summer Creatures", or maybe "Summer Bunnies". It wasn't until I was almost finished with these that I thought about how much Mom would've loved them (she collected bunnies.) Winter calls hers "Punk Bunny", West named his "Mr. Bunny Foo-Foo" ("Foofy" for short), and Walker's is "Happy Bunny".They turned out really cute, if I do say so myself!
